Continuinity

From the last post I have developed my idea further by incorporating a less structured environment. The spider has stayed within my work but the background and surroundings have become far less literal. To see these chamges please visit my wordpress site.

Using blogger

I find blogger much simpler than wordpress ! it is of a much uncomplicated fashion and easier to navigate around.

However I found the themes not as exciting as worpress and there is much less of a choice. I chose this theme because it seemed to structure my work more easily than some of the other themes. I also modified each element by changing the colours of the backgrounds and also the text colours. I find the widgets are easier to understand as the have descriptions below them to describe what each one of them does. The only problem I had with some of the widgets is that they didnt do what I thought they would do. For example I added the video element onto my page and wanted to put my own video up that was on flickr and slide.com ! it did not allow me to do this as the opyion only allows certain sites to upload from, and even the option I did click on uploaded a video that I didnt want ! some random video.

I also added some links to my other sites and also some other sites that I have found that go well with my subject of dreams.

I also played around with font and text charaters, ets and also with other applications.

I need to try and add more than one post on this site but at the moment I like the page that I have of my work. I will also add links to other influencial sites and my other websites.

I was able to change the link bars title but at the moment I have not mastered how to have seperate sub headings for different link catagories. This will be my next step along with adding more posts and linking this site up with my wordpress site. Although if that is what I am going to do I will probably have to change my post as I have already talked about the dream series of photographs on this site on wordpress. I could use this site as a posts site and maybe wordpress as a static page site, with links both ways.

I will have to see where this post ends up and see if it appears in the right place ! if it does I will have found out a great deal.

My Development

Form my initial ideas I have been thinking about how I can futher my ideas. What I have done so far includes writing down my dreams, which I have placed in my own dream diary, then I have taken elements from these dreams and then made models from them. Instead of just leaving these as models I have taken photographs of them at ,amy different viewpoints. The materials I have used to make the models include; used packaging, food boxes, toilet tubes, brush handles, mod-rock, cardboard and any other material that you dont always assosiate with the object they become. From these photographs I have then down a series of paintings, these have been specially taken so they become a series of 5 paintings. Each one showing the next sequence in the series which is like a film shot when a camera pans around a subject or object.

This is what I came up with!

Each scene is painted with Acrylic on A4 painting board!

I like these paintings because they create a surreal image where one painting leads into another. However they could also work as seperate images for which they then become much stronger images depending on which painting you have.

I have also tried to manipulate these using a few effects on my phone which I will post next week.
